CIPT2 (642-457) Lab 4

Configuring CUCME-Based SRST

This video builds on the previous video (CIPT2 Lab 3- Providing Redundancy with SRST and MGCP Fallback), by showing how to make a Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CUCME) router act as an SRST gateway. In this scenario, during normal operation Cisco IP Phones at a remote site register across an IP WAN with a centralized Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) cluster. However, if the WAN goes down, those phones register with their local SRST router, which just happens to be a CUCME router. The benefit is that those phones get an enhanced feature set in fallback mode, as opposed to using standard SRST, thanks to CUCME.
By the way, if you’ve enjoyed my CIPT1 and CIPT2 training videos, you might want to check out my new CIPT Video Labs product (containing 20 videos).
